FUENTE: TIMESONLINE Q: I've heard of a new prune juice that is really high in antioxidants. Is it better than orange juice and are there any other “super juices” worth trying? Amanda Ursell A: No one juice is necessarily “better” than another. Each has various unique advantages, allowing you to tailor your choice to your needs... Pomegranate juice: reversing cholesterol build-up It is not often that you get firm research on juices but scientists in Israel have shown that drinking only 120ml of pomegranate juice a day for one year decreased the size of fatty cholesterol build-ups in the heart arteries of patients. Researchers believe that this effect comes from the dark red pigments known as anthocyanins in pomegranates, along with tannins that boost levels of an enzyme called paraoxonase. This enzyme in turn breaks down cholesterol in the bloodstream, effectively giving your arteries a clean through.
